How exact age is calculated

Age is counted in whole years, then remaining whole months, then days — the same way you’d count on a calendar. Someone born on 29 February has their birthday counted on 28 February in non-leap years.

Useful date facts

  • A common year has 365 days and 52 weeks plus 1 day; a leap year has 366.
  • Leap years are divisible by 4, except century years not divisible by 400 — so 2000 was a leap year and 2100 won’t be.
  • Business-day counts here skip weekends only; subtract public holidays for your province yourself.

Scheduling across time zones? Use the time zone converter. Working with system dates? The Unix timestamp converter turns them into readable dates.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate my exact age?

Enter your date of birth; the calculator shows years, months and days, plus your age in total months, weeks and days.

Does it handle leap years?

Yes. Dates are calculated with the real calendar, including 29 February.

Are public holidays excluded from business days?

No — only Saturdays and Sundays are excluded, because holidays differ by province and employer.
